Short answer: through Twilio or Telnyx, registration costs about $20 up front. That's $4.50 to register your brand and $15 to have your campaign reviewed. After that you pay $1.50 to $10 a month per campaign, about $1 a month per number, and roughly a cent per text.
For a small office sending 500 one-segment reminders a month through Twilio, the first year comes to about $131. That's $19.50 to register, $18 for a low-volume campaign, $13.80 for one number, and at most $79.80 in message and carrier fees.
These numbers drift. TCR raised brand registration and vetting fees on August 1, 2025, and each provider passes them through differently. I checked every figure on this page in October 2026 against the provider's own pricing page, linked under each table. Check yours before you budget.
One-time fees
| Fee | Twilio | Telnyx | Bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand registration | $4.50 | $4.50 | $9 |
| Standard brand vetting (optional) | $41.50 | Not listed | $83 |
| Campaign vetting | $15 | $15 per review | Not listed |
- Brand registration: registers your business with The Campaign Registry. You pay it once per brand. Twilio and Telnyx pass TCR's $4.50 through at cost.
- Brand vetting (optional): an extra review of your business that can raise your trust score and your sending limits. Twilio folds it into a $46 Standard brand fee. Worth it if you send real volume.
- Campaign vetting: $15 to review your campaign. Twilio charges it once per campaign, so editing and resubmitting a rejected one costs nothing more. Delete it and start over and you pay again. Telnyx charges $15 per review and says its team may submit a campaign more than once.

Monthly fees
| Monthly fee | Twilio | Telnyx | Bandwidth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard campaign | $10 | $10 | $20 |
| Low-volume mixed campaign | $1.50 | $1.50 | $3 |
| Sole proprietor campaign | $2 | $2 | Not offered |
| Local phone number, each | $1.15 | $1.00 | Not listed |
- Campaign fee: a recurring fee for each active campaign. Low-volume mixed campaigns are capped at 2,000 segments a day to T-Mobile, which covers most small offices.
- Billing terms differ. Twilio bills the campaign fee at approval, then monthly. Telnyx bills the first three months up front. Bandwidth charges a three-month minimum even if you cancel early.
- Phone number: a monthly rental for each number you text from
- Platform plan: if you use a texting app instead of an API, its subscription is often your biggest monthly line

Per-message fees
Every text has two costs: your provider's price per message and a carrier fee the provider passes through to you. Carrier fees differ by carrier, so your bill depends partly on which carriers your customers use.
| Carrier | SMS, per segment (Twilio) | SMS, per segment (Telnyx) | MMS, per message (Twilio) |
|---|---|---|---|
| AT&T | $0.0035 | $0.0035 | $0.009 |
| T-Mobile | $0.0045 | $0.0045 | $0.01 |
| Verizon | $0.005 | $0.0045 | $0.007 |
| US Cellular | $0.005 | $0.005 | $0.01 |
- Provider rate on top: $0.0083 per SMS segment at Twilio, $0.004 at Telnyx. So one plain-text reminder to a Verizon customer costs $0.0133 through Twilio.
- Replies cost too. AT&T charges $0.0035 and T-Mobile $0.0025 per inbound SMS segment. Verizon charges nothing inbound.
- The same carrier can bill differently through different providers. Verizon SMS is $0.005 on Twilio's table and $0.0045 on Telnyx's.

Long texts cost more than you think
You pay per segment, not per text. A plain-text message fits 160 characters in one segment. Go over and it splits into segments of 153 characters each. Add one emoji or certain special characters and the whole message switches encoding, so each segment holds only 70 characters, or 67 once it splits. Same reminder, two prices:

The cost that isn't on the invoice
A rejection can cost you another $15 vetting fee, depending on your provider and whether you fix the campaign or start a new one. That's the small part. Re-review commonly takes one to four weeks, and your texts don't go out while you wait. For a business that runs on appointment reminders, that means no-shows, missed jobs, and staff time spent calling instead. Each rejection restarts the clock.

Building and auditing your registration is free. Your first submit-ready registration is free during beta, and each additional one is $19.99, with no subscription. Carrier and provider fees are separate and go to your provider.
Common questions
Is there a monthly fee for 10DLC?
Yes. Each active campaign costs $1.50 to $10 a month at Twilio and Telnyx, and $3 to $20 at Bandwidth, as of October 2026. Each phone number adds about $1 a month on top.
Do I pay again if my 10DLC campaign is rejected?
It depends on the provider. As of October 2026, Twilio charges the $15 vetting fee once per campaign, so editing and resubmitting is free, but deleting and recreating it costs $15 again. Telnyx charges $15 per review. The bigger cost is the weeks your texts can't go out.
Is brand vetting worth it?
If you send more than a small number of texts a day, usually yes. It costs $41.50 at Twilio (October 2026) and raises your trust score, which raises your daily sending limits. A small office sending reminders often doesn't need it.
Why is my SMS bill higher than I expected?
Usually segments. Messages over 160 characters, or any message with an emoji, bill as multiple segments. Trimming a few characters or dropping an emoji can cut the cost of a message by half or more.
