10DLC rejection reasons · Critical

Terms and conditions missing or not compliant

Reviewers want public terms and conditions that cover your SMS program. Missing terms, or terms that share opt-in data with third parties, get the campaign rejected.

Alongside your privacy policy, reviewers look for terms and conditions that describe your text message program. On Twilio this rejection comes back as error 30882, "Campaign vetting rejection - Terms & Conditions." The most common causes are simple: there is no terms URL on the campaign, the terms page is not public, or the terms never mention SMS at all.

The other cause is what the terms say. If your terms allow you to share phone numbers or opt-in consent with partners, or read like affiliate marketing or lead generation, the campaign fails. Carriers want consent that is given directly to your business for your messages only. Language like "we may share your information with marketing partners" is enough to sink it.

To fix it, publish a terms page with an SMS section: your program name, what you send and how often, "Msg & data rates may apply," how to get help (reply HELP) and how to stop (reply STOP), plus a link to your privacy policy. Link that page from your opt-in form, add the URL to the campaign, remove any third-party sharing language, then resubmit. Paste your rejection into Fix and it will write the SMS terms for your business.

The fix

Publish a terms page on your website with an SMS section: business and program name, what you send and how often, 'Msg & data rates may apply', HELP and STOP instructions, a support contact, a line that carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and a link to your privacy policy. Link it from the opt-in form, add the URL to your campaign, and remove any language about sharing consent or phone numbers with third parties.

Common questions

What does Twilio error 30882 mean?

Twilio's docs title it "Campaign vetting rejection - Terms & Conditions." Your campaign's terms and conditions did not meet A2P 10DLC review requirements, most often because the terms URL is missing, the terms do not cover SMS, or they allow sharing consumer data or opt-in information with third parties.

What should SMS terms and conditions include?

The program name, the kind of messages you send and how often, "Msg & data rates may apply," HELP and STOP instructions, a support contact, and a link to your privacy policy. Keep it on a public page and link it from wherever customers opt in.

Is terms and conditions the same as a privacy policy?

No. The privacy policy says how you handle data, including that mobile opt-in data is not sold or shared. The terms describe the SMS program itself. Reviewers check for both, and the terms should link to the privacy policy.
